The Devil Queen

How my wife and I sold our souls to the Queen Anne Victorian we tried to save.

Name:
Location: Crow Mountain, Arkansas, United States

Synopsis: This is a cautionary tale. A seriously disturbed couple find the charming, old ruin of a Queen Anne Victorian in Russellville, Arkansas, and buy it for $1.00. They tore the roof off, cut it in half, and had it moved to some land they owned sixteen miles away because they didn't know any better. Since then, they have hired and fired contractors, had all of their tools stolen, re-wired, re-plumbed, insulated, and essentially rebuilt the entire house. Their only problem is that after four years it still isn't finished. Now they are tired, broke, and wonder what in the hell it is they've done to themselves. And, it's haunted.

The Plot Thickens

What a week. I wish today were Friday. I’m not sure I can drag myself through two more days. Nothing sucks the life out of you like spending 4 hours in your car (logging 300 miles), going to a funeral, and putting in five hours at the office. On the upside, it has gone a long way in helping me achieve one of my life long goals, being narcoleptic.

We got a second-hand message from the Pope County Sheriff’s Office last night. My father-in-law said that they got a message from the Sheriff’s Office last week. Since my in-laws were in Kentucky last week, the message is a little late in coming. Why the police didn’t call us since we’d left a message & our phone number is beyond me. Oh well.

According to Jack, “the police say that they have a miter saw in their possession that they’d like you to identify.” Cool.

I’m excited by this. My wife is going to call the police today and see when/where they want us to come in. I’m hoping that they still have the saw. It would suck if they had already returned the saw because we hadn’t come-in in X number of days. I’m hoping that all the bodies people have been dumping in the woods are keeping the police too busy to have done anything with the saw.

Kenny is still working on the Queen. I think he’s been working on the living room built-ins, but we haven’t had time to check and see what he’s finished. I’m hoping to make it up there after work tomorrow.
