Here is a section of the floor I've finished scraping.
Here is the only unfinished section. It is probably 4-5 square feet.

At the risk of sounding critical (I'm not), why not use a belt sander? Something about the finish and the heat of the friction?
Being real scared of belt sanders (since I have the upper-body strength of a grub and thus can't control them very well), I await details with baited breath, including specific beer recommendations.
