The Devil Queen

How my wife and I sold our souls to the Queen Anne Victorian we tried to save.

My Photo
Name:
Location: Crow Mountain, Arkansas, United States

Synopsis: This is a cautionary tale. A seriously disturbed couple find the charming, old ruin of a Queen Anne Victorian in Russellville, Arkansas, and buy it for $1.00. They tore the roof off, cut it in half, and had it moved to some land they owned sixteen miles away because they didn't know any better. Since then, they have hired and fired contractors, had all of their tools stolen, re-wired, re-plumbed, insulated, and essentially rebuilt the entire house. Their only problem is that after four years it still isn't finished. Now they are tired, broke, and wonder what in the hell it is they've done to themselves. And, it's haunted.

We Are Home Improvement Syphilis

Just in case you are wondering, it could always be worse. You could be us.

On a related theme, I just discovered that yet another one of my favorite Housebloggers has moved on to greener pastures, and, to be honest, I’m just more than a little jealous although I can’t advocate moving to Syracuse.

I know! I can't believe it myself. I have followed Mindy's blog for more than a year. "Dirty Gert" was in kind of a dinky, nasty little town and they're probably better off in an apartment for right now. I hope they find a gorgeous old fixer upper before too long.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I don't have what it takes to buy a whole house and move it. If that had been me, I would be in a pile of rubble rocking back and forth in the fetal position while crying.

Ninja,

It sort of does. However, I am suspicious that not having what it takes could also mean "I'm way too smart to try crazy shit like that."
